Stuffed like a turkey

In December, I was pretty busy making preparations for Olivia's 1st birthday in Jan.

I wondered where the year went and there were moments when I still feel as though I didn't do "enough" for Olivia.

Often at times, guilt still kicks in even whenever I get my domestic helper to babysit Olivia while I take a couple of hours break to unwind myself by reading online or watching Korean dramas. Still a K-drama addict since 2007. LOL.

At the same time, if I do take care of Olivia the whole day, I'll be super tired at the end of the day.

I remember an ex colleague always gushing about her son in the office and how she misses him and how cute he is BUT she WANTS to come to work because she will go crazy if she were to stay at home taking care of him.

Back then, I never understood her contradicting statement but now I totally do.

I backdated this post because it's already February 2017 and I have been too busy to blog.

The high tea @ Ritz Carlton on weekdays is pretty worth it.

Managed to go for L + A's Christmas dinner.

The picture totally says everything.

I would never be able to pull off what Alicia cooked single handedly.

Attended our cell's Christmas party.

It was a pot luck party with lots of yummy food!

Turning 30

Celebrated my birthday at Ichi Ni Nana Izakaya in Melbourne.

Earlier in the day, I could sense the awkwardness of family members not wishing me on my birthday.

I thought to myself, urgh - this must be one of those "surprises" again and true enough, when I asked my mum about it - she said "I told everybody that the birthday dinner is a surprise."

I'm too old for surprises -_-"

When this sashimi platter came out, it was treated almost like a celebrity at our table. LOL.

Love love love Le Petit Gateau cakes!

Couldn't ask for more at 30 when I have everything that I need, and more.

Bistro Guillaume Melbourne

My aunt brought us here for lunch. I enjoyed every bit of my meal !

However, the service was pretty slow.

Slow service = a stressful affair with a screaming baby.

Thank goodness there was another baby on the table beside us as well who was pretty noisy so I felt less alone :)

No regrets opting for the 3-course meal despite being crazily stuffed after our meal thanks to the bread! Even the bread is so good!

Sydney Snippets

Weather in Sydney was way better than Melbourne. Thank God for that.

Wasn't easy pushing a stroller while holding an umbrella at the same time in Melbourne.

Just a pic taken at the Westfield food court - feast for the eyes.

I was busy catching Pokemon in Sydney and so was everybody else. 2016 - the year of Pokemon Go craze.

A must do every time in Sydney - Dining @ Hurricanes!

Thought of Mike as I ate here because my first dining experience here was with him.

Unfortunately, he didn't join us during this trip.

Another must do for me - Visit Sydney's Fish market!

"Is this for me?"

Totalling missing Bourke Street Bakery's delicious pastries and sandwiches. So so good.

.....and to think that you won't be able to remember a thing about this trip!

Oh how we had to continuously entertain you and carry you and pick up everything that you threw down from the high chair! Plus, you had your first taste of ice cream too which you absolutely loved!

We went here twice - Black Star Pastry with their 'star' pastry ! JUST look at that!

Tourist shot!

Brunch munch munch

All I can say is  - I MISS the food in Melbourne !

Mike suggested to go to Melbourne again next year and at first, I was like - Melbourne AGAIN?!
But now that I'm going through the pics of food (lol), HMMM, maybe we should?

I'm so torn between travelling and saving next year.
And, this has always been a long time dilemma of mine - however, temptation always gets the better of me -_-

With my financial goals being far out of reach, a baby in tow PLUS with the current gloomy economic sentiment, I know that 2017 is the season for saving.

If you were to ask me to fork out the same amount today on fine dining as I did in the past, I don't think I would do so now - partly because my interests and priorities have changed as well.

I didn't realise how much I used to spend until I stopped working.

Paringa Estate

We managed to sneak in a couple of fine lunches during our trip -
with the help of family members taking turns to babysit of course.

After all, it takes a whole village to raise a child, as they say.

I wish that I were more relaxed during this trip.

I realised that half the time I'm worried about other guests whenever Olivia fusses or screams and I can only find comfort whenever I see other babies and parents around.

After observing most families with babies, I tend to feel less alone knowing that almost everyone goes through the same inconveniences during meal times.

I am just glad that Olivia's screaming phase has ended.

I miss the food at Paringa Estate. The food was cooked to perfection.
