The Fountain Restaurant

I didn't intend for my blog posts to be filled with food pictures.

When I first shifted my blog back to this domain, I wanted to try to go back to my old style of writing sh*t / funny stories / memories but I suppose that it's hard to run away from my first love ;)

Arrived early at Fortnum & Mason but it wasn't opened. However, we saw that the restaurant was open and decided to have some breakfast.

They had a cellist serenading the diners. Service here was also top notch.
The breakfast here was good but ordinary. No surprises. Eggs, ham, sausages, the usual.

The Fountain Restaurant would be a perfect place to catch up with my girlfriends over tea. Love  love love the ambience.

Burger & Lobster

Burger & Lobster @ Knightsbridge

It was good - the first few bites of my lobster roll.
But after that, it was damn jelak for me.

The lobster roll bread was really oily though.

Between the lobster roll and grilled lobster, I prefer the latter.

Mike felt that the food here was just - OK.

Dinner by Heston

Mike reminded me that we actually visited two 'fine dining' restaurants in London when I declared that I only tried out one restaurant in my earlier post.

However, I personally didn't get that fine dining vibe while dining at dinner by Heston.

Service was good. However, the food didn't meet my expectations. It was good but I just expected so much more given the hefty price.

You have no idea how many food reviews I have read on Dinner by Heston before deciding to make reservations here.

One thing's for sure - the triple cooked chips are overrated.

Thus far, no restaurant has managed to top my dining experience at Vue de Monde. Vue de Monde really sets the bar (at least, for me).

Meat Fruit

Earl Grey Tea Cured Salmon

Roast Iberico Pork Chop

Hereford Ribeye

I can't remember what this was.

Ledbury = Love

Ledbury is one of the highlights of my trip to London.

The pictures will do the talking.

Okay, but before they start talking -
let's just say that I would highly recommend this place if
anybody asked me for fine dining suggestions in London
(which btw, is the ONLY fine dining experience I had in London). LOL.

Yeap, that's bacon my friends :)
Tasted like a mini bacon pau.

Forgot what was this but it was yummy too.

Same comment as the above pic.

This was a pork cutlet, if I can recall which was so good.

Ceviche of hand dived scallops with kohirabi, seaweed oil and horseradish.

A crisp quail's egg with peas, girolles and spring truffle

Scottish Langoustine with asparagus, shiitake and smoked dulse

Roast Sea Bass with brassicas, chopped oysters and sake

I can't express in words how much I loved everything about this except for -
love love LOVEEEE.

Herdwick lamb with salt baked turnips, padron peppers and wild garlic

Passion fruit souffle with Sauternes Ice Cream

Whipped chocolate caramel with jasmine tea and citrus

Madu Bulan.

So we were planning our honeymoon over the weekend and I was excitedly reading out what the 'honeymoon package' was providing. . .

Spa oooohhh
Romantic BBQ ooohhhhh
Complimentary tea time everyday ooooh
Unlimited non motorized water sports . . . .ooooh nice.

Mike looked at me and said, "Non motorized. You know what this means? It means that they'll be offering free kayaking."

..."and...?"

"Who will be rowing the boat?"

"You lah. Who else?"

"No way. Do you know how tiring it is?"

WHAT a real spoiler.
Super unromantic.

We still have not booked anything for our honeymoon yet -_-
He feels that the package isn't worth it.

One and a half more months to go. . .
and so many invites still undelivered.
Deco isn't finalized yet.

스트레스 !!!!!

To market to market to buy a fat pig.

I can't believe that I didn't go to Borough Market during my first trip to London.
The last trip's focus was on shopping. It was mostly shopping malls day in and day out.

I love visiting markets. Especially the food section :)

However, Mike tends to get on my nerves because he has an annoying habit of pulling me away from food. Is it a crime to stand there to admire the texture and colours and to take deep breaths of the heavenly scents? Pffft.

Bec suggested to try out the Raclette here so I was on hunt mode for the Raclette store.
It's sooo good. Potatoes, cheese and pickles.
Served piping hot.

There were so many things that I really wanted to try but due to limited space in my stomach, I had to give it a pass.

Breakfast / Brunch in London

The one thing that tends to distract me from blogging is Youtube -_-
I can watch videos for hours and hours
and before I know it, it's bedtime.

I was feeling ambitious earlier. I wanted to post multiple posts  to cover as much as my trip but I have failed miserably. I blame my short attention span.

During the planning stages of this trip, I was busy getting recommendations of restaurants to visit and my friend recommended The Breakfast Club for breakfast.

We went there twice -the first time was at their Spitafields branch and the second was in Soho :)

Marshmallows are optional but if you were to take away this option, you'd get less value for money. I'm not a huge fan of marshmallows but I'm all about value for money. ROFL.

It was Easter Weekend and they had some specials - I took the bacon and hot cross buns special . . . hot cross buns one a penny two a penny hot cross buns. Yamaha days. Hello? ANYONE? :P

It was my first time having 'hot cross buns'. I ordered it only because I like the words - hot cross buns. I'm serious.

Mike had his usual - usually, anything with BIG and BREAKFAST in it, but this instance, his keywords were FULL and MONTY.

During our second visit, Mike however opted for the salmon and scrambled eggs.

I opted for something SO sinful but I had a pancake craving that day.
And I love potatoes too.

Breakfast/brunch was enjoyable.

The reason.

If it weren't for Bec's wedding, I wouldn't have gone on this trip.

And if I didn't go for this trip, I would have missed out on a whole load of fun - I had a great holiday (at a great expense - monetary wise) but what was more memorable than the holiday, was the Wedding of the Year that I attended :)

Mike can't stop telling his story of me on the dance floor -_-
AND to top it off, he keeps showing friends my stupid dancing video. What a wonderful fiance.

Anyhow, I am so pleased that Mike & I managed to experience such a beautiful wedding of a dear friend (which makes it even more memorable) all the way in Bordeaux.

After this trip, I am so keen on planning a group trip/holiday in 2015. It made me realize how much I miss travelling with friends.

We started off in London and ended in London.

Our first meal when we reached London was @ Gold Mine with Bec & Fang  ("the Fangs").

Before this, Bec was helping to make dinner arrangements so I asked Mike what did he want to eat - Roast duck or steak or fish and chips?

He immediately said Roast Duck.

What the Chinaman wants, the Chinaman gets (but not all the time though...)

For our last dinner in London, we had dinner with the Fangs again.

And guess what did Mike want to eat again?
No prizes for guessing . . . .

Day and night he keeps asking for soup, fruit juice and Asian food.

Dinner @ Pearl Liang

The Peking duck here is not bad.
